Know the Bird

The male bluethroat has prominent blue and red throat with red tail.

The bright colors are absent in the female Bluethroat.

The bird lives and breeds in Europe, Alaska and migrates during winter season. 

The Bluethroat migrates to Africa and Indian subcontinent in winter season.

Bluethroat feeds mainly on insects like larvae, ants, caterpillars and other flies. 

The Bluethroat is a skulking bird and always remains hidden in bushes but comes out to sing in breeding season.

The bird is often hard to photograph but with little patience it gets used to human presence and lets you photograph in various poses.
